Making
that list checking it twice.
Santa must be organized and
so must we. Carefully make your list and keep it year to year to remember
what you were given or gave. You may find it very useful to make a holiday
notebook to refer to annually. Keep as a handy reference to record peoples
sizes, color preferences, interests and dislikes.
Good organization make gift
searching fun. Every good detective keeps a little black book and Santa
keeps a very, very long list so maybe its time to have a little red gift
book. Copy a few pages out of your address book and put them in your gift
notes/book to have shipping information handy while shopping.
Get wish lists from everyone.
This is not always so easy. Answers like "I would like anything", "World
Peace", "you don't need to get me anything" makes one only want to
give lumps of coal to everyone. Make it simple for people to think. Make
your own "The Wish List" and present them to everyone you would like to
give a gift. You might want to included a few silly wish list requests,
ex: "If I won a million dollars in the lottery tomorrow what would you
like me to buy you for Christmas." Encourage individuals to dream and have
fun filling in the blanks. Make sure you write and give out your personal
wish list too! May seem a bit forward, but your careful gift giving should
inspire other to think about good gifts for you.
A fun way to get people in
the mood to suggest gift ideas is to invite future giftees to sit at the
computer WITH YOU and do a few Perfect
Present Picker Gift Searches using their personality traits, age, interests.
Bases on their reactions to the resulting gift ideas you can ask questions,
get hits, laugh, poke fun at gifts, but in weird personality profiles and
have fun getting their favorite gift ideas.
Keep a master list as you
find gifts. Note if they are wrapped, shipped or where you hide them. This
may sound a little paranoid, but you might want to invent a personal code
to write in the product names and who the gift is for on your list. Wandering
eyes are very good at finding gift lists...and unwrapped gifts.
